Reliability
is not an after thought, it's an integral
part of the design brief. NEC can cut
corners and time to market, by using off-the-shelf
PC components and operating systems. But
this is at the cost of reliability.
Aspire uses a 173 MIPS RISC processor
similar to those used in industrial machine
tools and passenger jets. Aspire telephony
applications are controlled by an industrial
strength embedded, multi-threading operating
system. We use Windows 2000 or Linux for
the less critical peripheral applications.
All this designed in reliability, is
packaged in NEC manufactured rack mounted
hardware, designed for ease of maintenance
and upgradeability.
Manageability is simplified by browser-based
system administrator and end user profile
applications. SNMP allows integration
into existing data network management
systems.
